Pep Guardiola’s team climbed back into the Champions League places with a 3-1 win over Chelsea last weekend. The Citizens then beat Club Brugge by the same scoreline – coming from behind in both games – to secure a Champions League play-off against Real Madrid later this month.
City have won four of their last five in the Premier League in an upturn in form. However, the trip to Arsenal is a difficult task. Guardiola’s side have failed to beat the Gunners in the last four meetings between the teams in all competitions.
Arsenal have also gone 648 days since their last loss to ‘Big Six’ opposition in the Premier League.
Omar Marmoush is available again after being ineligible for the Champions League clash with Club Brugge in midweek. The January signing was lively on debut against Chelsea and should retain his place at the Emirates.
Fellow recruit Abdukodir Khusanov looks likely to miss out after a difficult debut last weekend. The 20-year-old was at fault for Chelsea’s goal and booked inside the opening four minutes. John Stones impressed on his return to the starting side in Europe and is expected to replace the youngster.
There’s no new injury news for the Premier League champions. Rodri, Oscar Bobb, Jeremy Doku, Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias all remain unavailable for this weekend’s clash.
Manchester City predicted XI: Ederson; Nunes, Akanji, Stones, Gvardiol; Kovacic, De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva; Foden, Marmoush, Haaland.
Arsenal host Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday 2nd February 2024. Kick-off at the Emirates is 16:30 GMT.
You can watch the game live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League.
