Manchester City will only sanction a season-long deal for Jack Grealish to join Everton this summer if the Toffees are ready to cover his full wages, according to journalist and transfer insider Ben Jacobs.

Everton want to bring the England international attacker to the Hill Dickinson Stadium club and have resumed talks over a temporary deal.

Grealish earns around £300,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium club, which the Merseyside club could struggle to pay as it is much more than what their highest earner – Jordan Pickford (£125,000-a-week) – currently takes home.

However, Everton manager David Moyes could be keen to get a deal done as a move to sign Southampton winger Tyler Dibling appears to have fallen through.

Grealish is not in the plans of Man City manager Pep Guardiola and he was excluded from their Club World Cup squad.

The 29-year-old was also excluded from the team when the Spaniard fielded two different line-ups during a friendly against Preston North End on Saturday in a behind-closed-doors match.

He is now on the lookout for a new club and it remains to be seen whether he is open to joining Everton despite having seemingly played his last game for Man City.

Grealish still has two years left on his current contract and will unlikely be looking to seal a permanent move to where he will earn less than his current salary.

A permanent deal for him to join the Toffees may not be feasible unless he agrees to lower his personal demands, but successfully securing his services on loan could be huge given what he is capable of doing with the ball on his day.

Everton have strengthened their attack so far this summer by signing French striker Thierno Barry from Villarreal after permanently securing the services of Charly Alcaraz, and adding Grealish to the forward line could help them improve significantly in the final third.
