Latest Manchester City injury news.

Rodri and Oscar Bobb are out of today’s match. Pep Guardiola is yet to provide an update on the condition of Oscar Bobb as he continues to remain on the comeback trail from the fractured leg he suffered on the eve of this season. Rodri is out due to the ACL injury he suffered in September.

Rodri and Oscar Bobb will be joined on the sidelines by Manuel Akanji. Pep Guardiola revealed yesterday that the Swiss international is set to have surgery on an abductor injury. Guardiola added that Akanji is set to be out for 8-10 weeks.

Jack Grealish is also in doubt for today’s match. The England international limped off with an injury in the first half of Manchester City’s 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid. Pep Guardiola was unsure if Grealish would be ready for today’s match.

The final City player under an injury cloud is midfielder Nico. Nico went down with an injury during Manchester City’s 2-1 FA Cup fourth-round tie win over Leyton Orient last weekend. The hope is that Nico can play today’s match. Pep Guardiola did reveal yesterday that Nico is closing in on a return to the pitch.

Predicted City starting eleven.

Ederson: It wouldn’t surprise me to see Stefan Ortega start today. But I’m expecting Pep Guardiola to stick with Ederson in goal. City’s number-one keeper will be eager to make amends for his late errors against Real Madrid if he does start today.

Abdukodir Khusanov: I’m hoping to see Khusanov start today. He does appear to have the attributes to play at right-back if required. It would be a brave call from Pep Guardiola to start Khusanov at right-back up against Anthony Gordon, but it’s one I’m expecting him to make.

Ruben Dias: Dias is almost an automatic selection at the back today. I can’t see him not starting today’s crucial match.

Nathan Ake: I expect Ake to start again today. The hope is that if he does he can play for more than an hour. Ake is crucial to City’s defence and they will need him today up against Newcastle’s potent attack.

Josko Gvardiol: Gvardiol was superb against Real Madrid and it would be a shock if he didn’t start today.

Nico: If Nico is fit I expect him to start today’s match. Pep Guardiola’s side is screaming out for a midfielder like Nico, so hopefully, he is fit enough to start against Newcastle.

John Stones: Stones was superb in midfield against Real Madrid. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him start there again today in a bid to combat one of the strengths of Eddie Howe’s side.

Phil Foden: Foden did play well against Real Madrid after coming for the injured Jack Grealish. He has played well against Newcastle previously so he could be due for big performance.

Jeremy Doku: The Belgian international was back on the bench for City’s defeat to Real Madrid. I expect him to return to the starting lineup today.

Omar Marmoush: Marmoush did come on late during Manchester City’s defeat to Real Madrid. But he came too late to have an impact. That could change today if he does start.

Erling Haaland: An automatic selection for today’s match. Haaland will eager to lead his team to victory in a crucial fixture.
