Manchester City reject Roma approach for 19-year-old talent Echeverri | OneFootball

Reports in Italy claim that Manchester City have turned down a bid from Roma to sign 18-year-old talent Claudio Echeverri, despite the Giallorossi including a reasonable buy-back option.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have been attempting to strike a deal with the Premier League giants for Echeverri, who made his City debut as a substitute during their FA Cup final loss against Crystal Palace in May.

The Giallorossi had reportedly offered City an initial loan deal with an option to buy and a buy-back clause in favour of Pep Guardiola’s side, but City remain adamant that they do not want to lose permanent control over the young Argentine talent.

Man City say no to reasonable Roma offer for Echeverri

Reports earlier in the week suggested that Roma’s offer consisted of a loan with an option to buy for a total fee of €33m after seeing a previous €25m turned down. The Giallorossi had also been prepared to offer City a €40m buy-back option.

However, according to reports from Calciomercato.com, this proposal has not been accepted.

Instead, as reported at the end of July, City would prefer to send Echeverri out on loan to Girona, who are also under City Group management, with the intention for him to gain consistent minutes before being bled into the City first-team the following season.

That is despite Calciomercato reporting that Echeverri’s preference was to come to Roma.
