Earlier this week, it seemed that the possibility of Ederson leaving Manchester City for Galatasaray was very real. Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reported that Galatasaray was interested in signing Manchester City’s number-one keeper this summer. Now it has been reported that the Turkish giants have submitted an offer to City to sign the Brazilian international. All of a sudden the possibility that City may be in the market for a new number-one keeper this summer is now very real.
GalaHaberNet has reported on X that Galatasaray and Manchester City are nearing an agreement that will see Ederson move to Turkey. Furthermore, GalaHaberNet reports that the Turkish giants have offered Manchester City €9 million to sign City’s number-one keeper. They have also offered Ederson a salary of €7 million as per the GalaHaberNet report.
Get Football News France has relayed a report from L’Equipe that Galatasaray have offered Manchester City €3 million to sign Ederson. It is thought to be highly unlikely that City would accept such an offer to sell Ederson. Which is the two reports is accurate remains to be seen.
Whichever report above is accurate, it appears that Galatasaray are pushing hard to sign Ederson. If the Turkish giants are now submitting bids for City’s number-one keeper they would surely have an indication from Ederson that he wants to leave City. If all of that is proven to be correct then Manchester City will be in the market for a new number-one keeper. Perhaps reports from before the summer transfer window opened revealed who City have in mind to replace Ederson.
Simon Mullock reported in April for the Mirror that Manchester City were willing to pay €50 million to sign FC Porto keeper Diogo Costa. In terms of a ready-made keeper, Costa does tick that box. He is a proven performer at the highest level. Diogo Costa has had a strong career at club level with FC Porto. He is also Portugal’s number-one keeper. Costa is a quality shot-stopper and good with the ball at his feet. Diogo Costa is only 25 years of age so he has many years left playing at a high level. In terms of a player who could replace Ederson perhaps Diogo Costa is a safe bet.
Ederson has previously declared that he would remain at Manchester City for next season. But Galatasaray are now pushing hard to sign him. If the Turkish giants can meet City’s demands in terms of a transfer fee it will be interesting to see what happens next. Perhaps Ederson’s time at City is coming to an end. If it is City will need a new goalkeeper. Perhaps Diogo Costa is the player they have their eye on. All of that will become clear once Ederson’s future is decided.
