RB Leipzig and Spain international Dani Olmo is now ‘high on the list’ of potential new recruits at Manchester City this summer, according to a new report.

The 26-year-old is currently away on international duty representing his home nation at the ongoing European Championships in Germany, progressing into the knock-out stages of the tournament where Georgia await in the last-16.

Euro 2024 will no doubt come as a welcome break for Olmo following on from a challenging season with RB Leipzig on an injury front, with a knee problem, an acromioclavicular joint dislocation, and muscular issues restricting his number of appearances.

Despite such problems, Olmo was able to manage 21 appearances across the Bundesliga, scoring four goals and providing five assists, but missing both of the club’s UEFA Champions League meeting with Manchester City.

However, the player’s absence from meetings with the then reigning Champions of Europe and his various injury issues have seemingly not prevented Etihad officials from taking an interest in the player’s signature this summer.

According to the information of GIVEMESPORT’s Dean Jones, RB Leipzig and Spain international attacking midfielder Dani Olmo is believed to be ‘high on the list of fancied signings’ by Manchester City.

It is explained that the 26-year-old has been in the sights of the Premier League champions in case other plans fall through, and while the player is rated at £51 million, the report credits the ‘good relations’ between the two clubs built over the last few seasons.

But just how many of Manchester City’s other potential summer attacking midfield targets have already fallen through?

Only Lucas Paqueta stands as a profile unable to make his arguably dream move to the Etihad Stadium, with the Brazilian international at the centre of a number of high-profile gambling charges made against him by the Football Association.

Bruno Guimaraes has seen his Newcastle United release clause expire, with a number of clubs including Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain unwilling to sanction finances at the £100 million mark for the 26-year-old.

Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich also remain options for Manchester City this summer, but the former is likely to be deemed unrealistic by a number of admirers due to a combination of finances required to make a deal happen, and Bayern Munich’s reluctance to sell.
