WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via a media update from The Cityzens this afternoon.
MacIver sustained her injury whilst on international duty with Scotland. The player started The Tartan Army’s goalless draw against Serbia last Friday but she was replaced early in the game. MacIver returned to Manchester City ahead of schedule for treatment and it has now been confirmed that the keeper has ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).
The player has already undergone surgery on her injury and she has started her rehabilitation. MacIver is unlikely to return to fitness until midway through the 2024/2025 season.
In other news, Manchester City have not provided an update on the fitness of first-choice keeper Khiara Keating. The youngster withdrew from the England squad at the start of April camp after carrying a knock. With nine days to go until Manchester City return to competitive action, Keating has time to recover depending on the severity of her injury. The Cityzens’ other senior goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck is recovering from a stroke and details around her current health are not known.
Manchester City have four games left to play this season. They welcome West Ham United to The Joie Stadium for their next match on Sunday 21 April 2024.
