A double sale within the ranks of Manchester City’s defensive unit this summer could earn the club a staggering £45 million, according to a new report.

The Premier League champions continue to be shrewd operators in the transfer window this summer, raking in various portions of cash through the activation of sell-on clauses in deals across the continent.

Most recently, Manchester City were eligible to earning a sum of approximately £2.5 million from the sale of former goalkeeper Arijanet Muric to Ipswich Town due to a sell-on clause negotiated with Burnley in the summer of 2022.

Recently-negotiated sell-on clauses have also been finalised within Liam Delap’s move to Portman Road, understood to be 20 per cent in the £20 million package deal, and Sergio Gomez’s Real Sociedad switch, reported to be 30 per cent in the €10 million agreement.

But further huge sums of cash could now be on their way to the Etihad Stadium this summer, with fresh reports pointing towards a double defensive sale for a duo that are yet to make their first-team competitive debuts for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City squad.

According to the information of MailSport’s Jack Gaughan, Borussia Dortmund are haggling over a transfer fee for Manchester City right-back Yan Couto, with the Premier League champions valuing the Brazilian international at around £30 million.

Elsewhere, Etihad Stadium officials are also reportedly fielding interest in Burkina Faso right-back talent Issa Kabore, who spent the last season on loan at Luton Town, and are eyeing a £15 million fee with interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray.

In the case of Couto, Manchester City are looking to capitalise on the Brazilian’s stock being at its highest since his arrival at the club, returning into the Etihad Stadium officials’ grasp from a highly-successful loan spell at Girona.

The 22-year-old performances at the La Liga club heavily contributed to Míchel’s side securing UEFA Champions League football for the forthcoming 2024/25 campaign, and in the process earning himself a spot in the senior Brazil national side for the first time in his career.

Kabore’s latest outing away from Manchester City was less successful, succumbing to relegation from the Premier League during his season-long loan agreement with Rob Edwards’ Luton Town.

Nevertheless, the player remains highly-regarded within the game, and should Galatasaray become unable to do a deal for the defender, he is unlikely to be short of other options at the top of the European game.
