Manchester City have officially announced the signing of Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan in a £46.5 million deal on a five-year contract.
The 26-year-old bagged 16 goals and four assists across all competitions this season.
He is City’s fourth summer signing – joining Rayan Ait‑Nouri, Rayan Cherki, and Marcus Bettinelli – bringing total summer spending to over £107m
“I am ecstatic to be signing for Manchester City,” Reijnders said while speaking for the first time as a City player.
“City are one of the biggest teams in the world, with the best coach, world-class players and outstanding facilities.
“Under Pep Guardiola, City have won so many titles, and I want to help keep that going with a lot more success in the coming years.
“I am really looking forward to getting going, meeting the other players and showing the Manchester City fans what I can do.”
Reijnders is a vital addition to strengthen City’s midfield depth, particularly following injury issues with Rodri and Mateo Kovacic last season.
The Dutch international is capable of operating as a deep-lying playmaker or an advanced midfielder.
His combination of technical quality, tactical intelligence, and versatility makes him an ideal fit for Guardiola’s high-possession, high-intensity style.
Reijnders will be aiming to help City bounce back from an underwhelming season, but his immediate task will be to make an impact in the upcoming Club World Cup.
City have been drawn in Group G of the tournament, where they will face Wydad Casablanca, Al-Ain and Juventus in the group stage.
