The ongoing recruitment drive for some of English football’s very best young talents at Manchester City is continuing with another deal on the verge of completion.

Hugo Viana and co have been hard at work within the Etihad Stadium offices over the course of the summer successfully bringing in new faces to strengthen and refresh Pep Guardiola’s playing squad in time for the now-concluded push for a FIFA Club World Cup title.

Over in the United States, all of Rayan Ait-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders, and Rayan Cherki certainly impressed Manchester City fans with their first few appearances for the club, with the former looking set to hold down the left-back role for the duration of the season.

But with additions made, City are now expected to trim their squad in time for the start of the Premier League season, after manager Pep Guardiola insisted that the size of his roster exceeds his own comfortability.

In the background, there does however remain continued work on further additions into the City Football Academy training centre, but more focussed on the future and bolstering the club’s prospects for beyond the next decade.

Having moved for some of the most highly-regarded young prospects currently developing at the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa in the last few weeks, City have now seen their attentions turned towards the North-East.

That is according to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, who reveals that Manchester City are now closing in on yet another deal for their Academy system with Newcastle United Under-15 attacker, Ethan Fullen set to join the club.

The teenager is said to be seen as a ‘huge talent’ by those at the City Football Academy, and the player is now on the verge of making the move to the North-West with details being sorted between the relevant parties.

For now, it remains to be seen what area of Manchester City’s Academy system Fullen will be integrated into should a deal get over the line, and it is certainly not ruled out having the player operate above his own age group.

City’s youth coaches often strive to develop talents at a rapid rate and prepare them for life in the senior game, as such making their prospects some of the most readily available names for clubs when they come calling.

Premier League rivals Chelsea have been among the most prevalent sides when it comes to swooping in on Manchester City’s highly-rated youth talents that have either moved on from the Etihad Stadium, or were within the Academy at the time of being signed.

Among the names to have joined the Stamford Bridge club off the back of work undertaken at youth level with Manchester City are Romeo Lavia, Cole Palmer, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Liam Delap, while Jamie Bynoe-Gittens appears set to become the next in that list.
