Manchester City 5 (Jeremy Doku 9′, Pierre Kalulu (OG) 26′, Erling Haaland 52′, Phil Foden 69′, Savinho 75′)

Juventus 2 ( Tuen Koopmeiners 11′, Dusan Vlahovic 83′)

Here are the City player ratings as Manchester City claimed top spot in Group G at the FIFA Club World Cup with a dominant 5-2 victory over Juventus. Pep Guardiola’s side needed a win to ensure that they qualified for the round of 16 of the Club World Cup as group winners, and they produced a breathtaking display to achieve that goal.

Goals from Jeremy Doku, an own goal from Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu, Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Savinho were enough for Manchester City to see off the Serie A giants. The scoreline only tells part of the story as Pep Guardiola’s side produced a dominant performance at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando. There was a fluidity to City’s play and they had Juventus pinned back for the vast majority of last night’s match. With Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders starting in midfield, the pair dictated the match and gave Manchester City the impetus they needed to pin their opponents back. For large portions of the match, Igor Tudor’s side couldn’t get out of their own half as Manchester City’s pressing overwhelmed Juventus.

Jeremy Doku put in a sublime performance on the left wing. His link-up play with Rayan Ait-Nouri was a highlight of yesterday’s match. Matheus Nunes worked tirelessly at right-back as he put in a quality display. Erling Haaland came on at halftime and scored but his overall performance was that of a player hungry to perform and succeed.

The only areas of concern were Ederson’s misplaced pass in the 11th minute that gifted Juventus an equaliser through Tuen Koopmeiners. Manuel Akanji switched off late on to allow Dusan Vlahovic to get in behind the City defence to make it 5-2 in the 83rd minute.

But besides that, it was a superb performance from Manchester City at the Camping World Stadium. Here are the City player ratings from Orlando.

City player ratings

Ederson-5/10: Ederson’s error allowed Juventus to equalise in the 11th minute. Apart from that he made one good save and his distribution was a highlight of Manchester City’s performance.

Matheus Nunes-8/10: A great performance from Nunes. He got up and down the pitch all game, and he set up the Pierre Kalulu own goal and grabbed an assist for Erling Haaland’s second-half goal. A quality showing from Matheus Nunes.

Manuel Akanji-6/10: He didn’t have a lot to do defensively but he switched off late to play in Dusan Vlahovic. That was the only blot on his copybook.

Ruben Dias-7/10: Had his hands full with his physical battle with Dusan Vlahovic. But he did his job well at the back.

Rayan Ait-Nouri-8/10: Followed up his impressive debut against Al Ain with another strong performance. His combination play with Jeremy Doku was a highlight of City’s performance and the Algerian international defended well when required.

Rodri-9/10: A superb performance from Rodri in his first start since last September. His teammates stand taller with him on the pitch and he looks to be ready to return to his best

Tijjani Reijnders-8.5/10: A quality showing from Reijnders. His ability to get forward from midfield and split the Juventus defence with his passing caught the eye.

Bernardo Silva-7.5/10: A good performance from Bernardo Silva.

Savinho-8/10: He was a threat throughout the game, and his goal was beautiful. Exactly the type of performance he needed for his confidence.

Omar Marmoush-6.5/10: Toiled away up front before being substituted at halftime. His movement was good and gave the Juventus defence a constant headache.

Jeremy Doku-9/10: Manchester City’s man-of-the-match. Scored a goal and his ability to beat a man stood out. He looks to have matured as a player.

Substitutes

Erling Haaland-8/10: A great effort from Haaland. He scored a goal but it was his work rate and effort that caught the eye.

Phil Foden-7.5/10: Continued his impressive form with a good performance off the bench. Grabbed a goal and looked lively.

Ilkay Gundogan-7/10: Did what he had to do after coming on.

Rayan Cherki-7/10: Showed his quality once again in his brief cameo performance.

Nico O’Reilly-6/10: Didn’t have a lot to do after coming on late in the second half.
