Man Utd (3-4-2-1): Onana; De Ligt, Maguire, Yoro; Mazraoui, Fernandes, Ugarte, Dalot; Garnacho, Eriksen; Hojlund.
United are still down in 13th in the Premier League table, 12 points off the top four and a massive 33 points adrift of leaders and arch-rivals Liverpool. However, the Red Devils did beat Leicester 3-0 before the international break, extending their unbeaten run to seven matches across all competitions, discounting penalty shootouts. Ruben Amorim’s men are still going strong in the Europa League and will want to use this match to further boost their confidence as they prepare for a tough quarter-final tie against Lyon.
Patrick Dorgu returns from suspension, but Amorim may opt to stick with Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot on the flanks after a strong performance against Leicester.
Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro should be fit to start, while Amorim will also hope to have Mason Mount, Jonny Evans and Altay Bayindir in his squad.
However, this match will probably come too soon for Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw and Ayden Heaven.
Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez are both out for the season.
Man Utd’s Premier League season is effectively over aside from trying to claw their way into the top half. However, there is still the Europa League to fight for and, thus, Champions League qualification on the line. So, standards need to remain high.
One man who does look like he’s hitting his stride at the perfect time is Rasmus Hojlund.
The Danish striker failed to contribute directly to a single goal between December 15th and March 12th, a run of 20 games across all competitions. However, it was Hojlund who assisted Diogo Dalot to make it 4-1 on the night and 5-2 on aggregate in United’s Europa League win over Real Sociedad, and the former Atalanta striker then follweod up with the opening goal in the 3-0 thrashing of Leicester just before the international break — just his third Premier League goal of the season and his first since December 7th.
But that previous strike just so happened to be against Nottingham Forest and with Hojlund backing his goal up with another against Portugal in the Nations League last week, he’ll feel primed and ready to assert his dominance over Joshua Zirkzee for this critical part of the season.
