Manchester United are once again monitoring Parma shot-stopper Zion Suzuki according to the latest reports.

The 22-year-old custodian was born in New Jersey to Japanese and Ghanaian parents. He started his career in Japan with Urawa Red Diamonds before making the move to Europe through the gates of Belgian club Sint-Truiden in 2023.

Last summer, the goalkeeper was poached by Parma who splashed €7.5 million to secure his services after earning their promotion to Serie A.

Suzuki immediately established himself as a regular starter in Fabio Pecchia’s side. He has thus far made 19 appearances in Italy’s top flight, conceding 30 goals in the process and registering three clean sheets.

But while the Crociati have been struggling to collect positive results with their young squad, Suzuki has been one of their most impressive players, so many expect him to ply his trade elsewhere sooner rather than later.

According to TalkSPORT, Man Utd are reviving their interest in the Japan international whom they pursued a couple of years ago.

However, Suzuki won’t come cheap, as Parma have reportedly slapped an asking price of £40 million on the player’s back. Many would consider it an exaggerated price tag on the Italian club’s behalf, as Transfermarkt estimates the goalkeeper’s value at €9 million.

And in any case, the Red Devils might be having second thoughts on their current second-choice goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. The 26-year-old joined the Premier League giants in the summer of 2023 and had yet to impress in his handful of showings thus far. However, he emerged as the ultimate hero in Sunday’s FA Cup victory over Arsenal.

Therefore, Man Utd could be open to giving the Turkiye international more chances, thus confirming him as Andre Onana’s understudy.
