Manchester United are finalising the last details for the transfer of Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Red Devils have not made any high-profile signings this winter, but that is about to change as Dorgu is set to join them from Lecce in the coming days.
United failed with two bids for the talented left-back earlier this month, but the club are now poised to reach an agreement for £25.2 million plus £6.3m in add-ons.
Lecce initially valued the 20-year-old at £33.6m, but they have decided to negotiate a slightly lesser package worth £31.5m to part ways with the Danish sensation.
United are defining the ‘last details’ of the payment terms before his move to Old Trafford.
The youngster is predominantly a left-sided full-back but can operate in several other positions.
He has superb defensive attributes. The Dane has won an average of 6.9 duels per game this season. He has also made 4.7 ball recoveries, 2.1 tackles and 1.7 clearances on average.
Dorgu has also impressed with his overlapping runs and would be a quality signing to compete for places with Diogo Dalot in the left wing-back role this season.
The defender has already agreed to make the switch to Old Trafford. A transfer could be straightforward once United finalise the payment terms with his club.
His arrival is likely to coincide with Tyrell Malacia’s exit. The Dutchman has been given the green light to leave the Red Devils on a temporary deal.
