Manchester United have opened talks with Bournemouth over a potential summer transfer for Antoine Semenyo, with the club viewing the Ghana international as a key piece in their post-season rebuild. According to TeamTalk, United have already initiated discussions with the player’s camp as they seek to position themselves ahead of several Premier League and European rivals.
Semenyo, 25, has become one of the most effective and versatile attackers in the Premier League since joining Bournemouth in 2023. With 20 goals and 10 assists in 87 appearances, he has shown his ability to operate on both flanks and adapt to tactical shifts — a quality that appeals to United’s manager Ruben Amorim, who values multi-functional forwards in his attacking set-up.
Club sources have indicated that Semenyo is being targeted not only as a reinforcement but as a possible replacement for players expected to depart, including Marcus Rashford, currently on loan at Aston Villa. Amorim is believed to admire Semenyo’s directness and pressing ability, which aligns with the tactical demands of his high-intensity style.

United are far from alone in their interest. Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have also entered the race for Semenyo, each viewing the Bournemouth star as a strong addition to bolster their forward options. Both clubs see his speed, aggression, and goal-scoring instinct as ideal fits for their pressing systems.
Lewis Cook, a team-mate of Semenyo’s at Bournemouth, described him as “aggressive” and “clinical” during an interview with BBC Sport in October 2024 — qualities that have seen his stock rise significantly over the past 12 months.
Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa are also circling, with the latter especially motivated by their plans for European competition next season. Interest from abroad includes Al Nassr and Sporting CP, although Semenyo’s desire to compete in the Champions League may tip the balance in favour of a move within the Premier League.
Bournemouth have set a valuation of £65 million for Semenyo, whose contract runs until 2029. While this gives the Cherries significant leverage, the growing number of suitors and the player’s ambition to make a step up could push negotiations forward swiftly.
United are believed to be exploring ways to fund the deal, potentially through player sales, but their early contact suggests a genuine commitment to completing the transfer.

The Europa League final against Spurs this week will not only determine United’s European status but could also shape the outcome of this deal. Champions League qualification would boost both finances and Semenyo’s interest, while failure to secure it could open the door to rivals like Liverpool or Spurs.
Nonetheless, United’s proactive stance in the early stages of talks reflects a club determined to act with greater clarity in the market. Whether they can outmanoeuvre their competition for Semenyo remains to be seen, but the groundwork has been laid.
This is exactly what United have been missing — speed, directness, and no-nonsense finishing. Semenyo looks like the kind of player who could thrive under Ruben Amorim. He’s not just an exciting attacker, he fits the modern Premier League mould: hardworking, aggressive, and tactically adaptable.
Let’s be honest, United have had far too many forwards who drift in and out of games. Semenyo is active from the first whistle. That £65 million might feel steep, but considering his age and contract length, it’s a long-term investment. The fact that other top clubs are circling only confirms how valuable he’s become.
