Manchester United had boots on the ground in Denmark last week as scouts were dispatched to watch Chilean attacker Dario Osorio in action for FC Midtjylland in the Europa League, according to reports.

While Ruben Amorim’s side briefly clicked into gear against FCSB in the same competition, the Danish team held Fenerbahce to a 2-2 draw, played out in front of a host of scouts from top European sides.

And according to Danish publication Tipsbladet, United were one of three Premier League sides represented, their talent-spotters joined by their Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur counterparts.

Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Real Sociedad, Ajax and Ferencvaros also sent scouts along.

The report speculates that they were likely in attendance to watch 21-year-old winger Osorio, who did little to harm his chances of a move with an impressive performance.

Although he didn’t contribute to either goal, he ended the game with a sofascore rating of 7.8, higher than any of his teammates.

This was driven by his impressive work with the ball on the floor, winning 9 of the 12 duels he contested and completing all three of his attempted dribbles.

He also made more tackles than anyone else on his team, despite playing on the right wing – the sort of stat that could make Amorim’s ears prick up as he looks for energetic, high-pressing players.

The United boss could get a closer look at Osorio in the coming weeks, with FC Midtjylland one of four potential opponents for United in the next round of the Europa League.

This is not the first time United have been linked with the player, with reports almost a year ago claiming the Red Devils were tracking him.

It was reported at the time that Liverpool were unsuccessful with a bid for the Chilean in an earlier transfer window.

Tipsbladet also note that Oliver Sørensen has attracted interest from top clubs, although they suggest this is stronger amongst the German contingent.
