Premier League weekend begins at the Etihad Stadium

Manchester City kick off the Premier League weekend with the visit of Crystal Palace, who make the trip north with a depleted squad.

A remarkable clash with Brighton produced three red cards, of which two were for Palace players, leaving Marc Guehi and Eddie Nketiah suspended for this game. There are also injury concerns over Maxence Lacroix.

City, meanwhile, need to build some momentum in the race to qualify for the Champions League, which now covers the top five in the Premier League thanks to Arsenal’s win over Real Madrid.

Palace have been somewhat of a bogey team for Pep Guardiola in recent years with City dropping points in four of their last seven meetings.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Man City vs Crystal Palace is scheduled for a 12.30pm BST kick-off on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

The match will take place at Etihad Stadium.

Man City vs Crystal Palace team news

No fresh injury concerns for Pep Guardiola, but also the fivesome ruled out are no closer to returning with Erling Haaland, Rodri, Nathan Ake, John Stones and Manuel Akanji all set to again sit out this weekend.

Savinho and Jack Grealish are pushing to start after dropping out for the derby, and Kevin De Bruyne will hope to keep his spot - and the captain’s armband. Phil Foden put in another disappointing display, so will be fearing for his place.

Crystal Palace are facing a possible centre-back crisis with Marc Guehi suspended and Maxence Lacroix potentially ruled out with a concussion. Fellow defender Chris Richards is approaching a return after injury, so may come in.

The win over Brighton has come at a significant cost with Edward Nketiah also sent off and, therefore, banned.

Man City vs Crystal Palace prediction

Crystal Palace may be heading to the Etihad with a patched-up defence, which will have a significant impact on the result. Even a disjointed attack, which City have been guilty of this season, will be relishing facing a backline missing Marc Guehi and, potentially, Maxence Lacroix.

But Palace’s attack will also be licking their lips at the prospect of facing a City defence which has on averaged conceded more than a goal a game - a far cry from seasons past.

Man City to win, 3-1.
