Man City striker features: 3 perfect PL loan signings Swansea City should already be eyeing

It was a disappointing 2023/24 campaign for Swansea City, and Luke Williams faces a busy summer as he looks to reshape the club's squad.

Swansea finished in 14th place, but flirted with the relegation zone at times throughout the season, and the Jack Army will demand a better 2024/25 campaign in what will be Williams' first full season in charge.

A lot of the blame for Swansea's poor season can be apportioned on their disappointing summer 2023/24 transfer window which saw the club recruit a number of players, most of whom disappointed.

Swansea have had success in the Premier League loan market in recent times, with the likes of Rhian Brewster, Marc Guehi and Morgan Gibbs-White making a big impact previously, but they had less success during the 2023/24 campaign.

Carl Rushworth, Charlie Patino, Harrison Ashby, Bashir Humphreys, Jamal Lowe and Charles Sagoe Jr all joined on loan from top-flight clubs, but other than Rushworth, and perhaps Lowe, the rest failed to make an impact.

The Swans will be looking for better this season, and with that in mind, here are 3 Premier League loan signings Swansea could make.

Karl Hein

With star goalkeeper Carl Rushworth returning to parent club Brighton this summer, Swansea will be on the lookout for a new man between the sticks, and Arsenal's Karl Hein could be the perfect option.

Estonia international Hein joined Arsenal in 2018 and has come through the ranks, but has found regular playing time hard to come by this season thanks to his role as third choice goalkeeper.

Being third choice means he doesn't get the chance to play for the first-team, nor the U21 side very often, as he normally travels with the first-team.

The 29-cap Estonia international spent time on loan with Reading during the 2021/22 season, and could be a suitable loan signing for Swansea this summer.

The 22-year-old will want to play regular football, and Swansea need a goalkeeper, so this could be the perfect move for both parties.

James Hill

Swansea are in need of defensive reinforcements this summer, so a move for Bournemouth man James Hill could be suitable.

Hill is a centre-back by trade, but can also play in both full-back positions, so his versatility makes him an appealing option for Championship clubs.

Swansea will see Bashir Humphreys return to parent club Chelsea following his loan spell, and with doubts over Nathan Wood's future at the club, they should be looking to add at least one central defender to their ranks this summer.

Hill joined Bournemouth in 2022, and spent time on loan with Hearts last season, before joining Blackburn Rovers on loan during the first-half of the 2023/24 campaign.

He impressed at Ewood Park, and has made a handful of appearances for the Cherries since returning in January, including a start in their 5-0 FA Cup win over Swansea in January.

Liam Delap

Manchester City striker Liam Delap has spent the last two seasons on loan in the Championship, and Swansea should look to secure a loan deal for the striker if City wish to loan him out again.

The Sun have reported that City are ready to sell the 21-year-old this summer, but with the club demanding a fee of £10million, it remains to be seen if they'll be able to move him on permanently.

If City choose to loan him out again, Swansea should be all over it, with the club really lacking a reliable striker option this season.

The Swans have Liam Cullen, Jerry Yates and Mykola Kukharevych on their books for next season, but it's unlikely all three will still be at the club by the time the 2024/25 season starts.

Delap has 12 Championship goals to his name after spells with Preston, Stoke and Hull, but he showed enough during his time with Hull to prove that he could be a good player at this level in the years to come.
