Manchester City are hoping for a double fitness boost for their crucial Premier League showdown with Tottenham.

Pep Guardiola’s in-form defending champions head to north London on Tuesday night for their high-profile game in hand on title rivals Arsenal knowing that a ninth straight domestic win would take them back top by two points and leave them in pole position to claim an unprecedented fourth successive top-flight title - and sixth in the last seven years - on the final day of the season.

City go to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the luxury of an almost fully-fit squad to choose from, with Nathan Ake their only injury concern after he suffered a foot issue and limped off during the first half of Saturday’s 4-0 win over Fulham.

The versatile Dutch defender is improving and will be assessed ahead of a final pre-Spurs training session on Monday, while Guardiola has also confirmed that Jack Grealish has shaken off a bout of illness to be available for a pivotal showdown in an enthralling title race having missed out entirely on the game at Craven Cottage at the weekend.

“Jack has recovered from illness and Nathan was much better yesterday,” Guardiola told reporters at his pre-match press conference on Monday.

“Now we are going to train and we will see if he can train later today.”

City otherwise have a completely clean bill of health against Tottenham, with the likes of Erling Haaland, Ederson and Ruben Dias all now fit after recent knocks.
