An update on the plans of La Liga giants Barcelona to return to the Camp Nou home has on Monday been provided.
And the news will no doubt be met with concern on the part of those of a Barcelona persuasion…
Xavi’s Blaugrana, of course, have spent the season to date playing their home fixtures away from the beloved Camp Nou.
As much comes amid ongoing renovations, in an effort to bring the ground into line with some of world football’s most modern stadiums.
The hope, until now, was that the venue would be opened to fans towards the end of this year, albeit at a reduced capacity of around 60%.
If the latest word stemming from the media on Monday is anything to go by, however, then the Barca faithful should perhaps not get their hopes up just yet.
This comes amid claims that the reopening of the Camp Nou could be set for an altogether considerable delay.
As per a report from Relevo, owing to delays in the construction process, the Barcelona brass are ‘already considering alternative dates’.
One such timeline floated by the Catalans would see the ground open its doors late in March of 2025.
Citing sources close to the situation, Relevo add that there is an increasing belief behind the scenes in Barcelona that March is a more realistic target than November or December.
