Lyon drawn to FCSB in the Europa League R016 | OneFootball

Lyon have been drawn to play FCSB in the Europa League RO16, whose draw was made this Friday at UEFA’s Nyon headquarters. Given Les Gones finished in the top 8 of the standings in sixth place, they are seeded which means the return leg will be played at Lyon’s Groupama Stadium on Thursday, March 13th. Paulo Fonseca’s side has been paired with FCSB, who have just eliminated PAOK FC on Thursday in the playoff round. (4-1 on aggregate).

Lyon have been paired with a Romanian outfit in the Europa League for the first since an infamous playoff exit in 2014 against minnows Astra Giurgiu. Should Lyon overcome FCSB, they will then face Real Sociedad or Manchester United in the quarter-finals. Lyon owner John Textor has reportedly tasked Lyon to win the competition. Les Gones will face Ligue 1 leaders PSG on Sunday at home.
