Former Barcelona star Luis Suárez has this weekend moved to lavish praise on a current member of the attacking setup in Catalunya’s capital.
The player in question? Lamine Yamal.
Wide-man Lamine is of course fresh off a spectacular campaign in Barcelona’s colours.
From his berth on the right flank, the 17-year-old terrorised opposing backlines, courtesy of a unique combination of touch, dribbling, vision and flair.
All told, in 55 appearances across all competitions, Lamine racked up 18 goals and 25 assists.
And one individual on whom such excellence was not at all lost is the aforementioned Luis Suárez.
Speaking during a media appearance ahead of Inter Miami’s upcoming Club World Cup debut, frontman Suárez was drawn on Lamine’s talents.
And the Blaugrana icon, in quotes relaid by Diario Sport, went on to explain:
“Lamine is a player who at 17 years of age is showing great maturity. He takes responsibility in important games, they are challenges that he sets himself and as a Barcelona player I am very happy for him.
“He is a player who is marking an era and making a very big difference.”
