Luis Enrique names PSG’s player of the season | OneFootball

Kylian Mbappé (25) may have been the star of the show once again this season, netting 27 goals in Ligue 1, leading Paris Saint-Germain to a third successive league title in what was his final season at the club. However, he isn’t Luis Enrique’s player of the season.

Victory over Olympique Lyonnais in the Coupe de France final (2-1) in Lille on Saturday evening saw PSG complete a domestic treble. In France, Les Parisiens have enjoyed a dominant campaign. Whilst Mbappé has stolen the headlines throughout the season, not just for his repeated goal-scoring feats but also for the uncertainty that has surrounded his future and at times polluted PSG’s season, he has not been the club’s best player this season, at least according to Luis Enrique.

That accolade instead goes to Vitinha (24). The Portuguese midfielder had a mixed debut campaign following his €40m move from FC Porto in the summer of 2022, however, he has consistently impressed this time around. His performances have not gone unnoticed by Luis Enrique.

“For me, [Vitinha] is the player of the season. If you add up his qualities as a footballer, he is the best in the team and yet all of the players are good, but he is exceptional,” said the PSG manager in a post-match press conference, attended by Get French Football News.
