The Paris Saint-Germain coach spoke to the press ahead of his side’s Matchday 17 encounter with AS Saint-Etienne.
“We were able to resume competition after the holidays, which were good and allowed the players to recharge. We had a wonderful stay in Doha, and we won a trophy, so we can only be happy.”
“It’s always difficult to play against teams that come to the Parc, as they often change their system and philosophy. But we have prepared well, and we want to approach this match as we usually do—that is, with ambition and the desire to impose ourselves.”
“Everything is in order both individually and collectively. I like to look at things from a broad perspective, and everything suits me for now. I’m happy to be able to create competition, and the team is performing well.”
The upcoming challenges
“We prepare for all matches in the same way, giving each the same level of importance. We have many games ahead of us in January, but the principle remains the same. The most important match is the next one. For me, the match that matters most is the one against Saint-Etienne, and after that, it will be the next one. It will be an important game because Saint-Etienne wants to earn points, and we, on our side, must be ready to win.”
“There are matches where players don’t need any extra motivation. But overall, my players are all very committed, and I have no concerns in that regard. There’s a lot of competitiveness within the team, and that’s something that keeps the motivation high.”
“There are six matches in January, and some of them will be decisive, especially in the Cup. Against Espaly, the Champions League matches… and in Ligue 1 as well. I think it’s more optimistic for me and the team to approach things in a positive way. And I’m very happy with what I’ve seen so far.”
