Lucky Baloyi leaves Black Leopards: What's the reason?
As Black Leopards commenced their pre-season preparations for the 2025/26 campaign, the club announced a significant roster change with the departure of several players. Most notably among those released is former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lucky Baloyi.
The Limpopo-based side, who narrowly missed qualification for the Promotional/Relegation playoffs after finishing fourth in the previous season, will begin their new campaign on August 22nd.
Despite the club's failure to secure promotion to the top-flight Betway Premiership, management has confirmed that head coach Joel Masutha will remain at the helm for the upcoming season.

"The technical team has looked at the loopholes where the team was lacking. We have identified the right players in all positions," said Makhubele. "This season will be a completely different season because we have balance in almost all the positions. It’s a continuation of where the coach left off. Players already understand the tactics. So we are not going to have a lot of challenges. I think the team looks balanced. We have also brought in Simon Gopane, an experienced goalkeeper coach. So things are shaping up well."
