Dylan Duffy, Aribim Pepple - who bagged a brace - and Ollie Banks were also on target for Paul Cook’s side against their high-flying visitors.
Elsewhere in League Two, Val Adedokun and Ashley Hay featured for Cheltenham Town in their 2-0 loss at Fleetwood Town on Saturday afternoon.
Adedokun played the duration of the game while Hay was utilised as a late substitute, but the hosts scored at the end of both halves to claim the points.
Jayden Meghoma started for Preston as they beat League One Wycombe 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out to progress in the FA Cup.
Meghoma played 66 minutes before being replaced by Mads Frøkjær-Jensen.
Goalkeeper Matt Cox made his third appearance for loan side Crawley, who lost a dramatic League One game 4-3 at Bolton.
The Trotters trailed 3-1 going into the final 25 minutes but levelled the match with five minutes remaining and, with the visitors reduced to 10 men, found a winner deep inside stoppage-time.
Exeter didn't have a fixture in League One over the weekend, but Ryan Trevitt and Tony Yogane could feature on Tuesday night when the Grecians host Premier League Nottingham Forest in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The tie, which kicks off at 8pm, will be televised on ITV.
In the Bundesliga, Frank Onyeka played the duration of Augsburg’s 0-0 draw at Mainz, while Mads Roerslev was an unused substitute for Wolfsburg, who held last year’s champions Bayer Leverkusen to a goalless draw.
Myles Peart-Harris was also an unused substitute as his loan side, Championship outfit Swansea City, won 1-0 at in-form Bristol City courtesy of Josh Tymon’s second-half goal.
Ben Winterbottom saw his scheduled game with Fylde at Aldershot in the National League postponed, while Ellery Balcombe's Motherwell had a weekend with no fixture.
