Liverpool sent Manchester United to a 3-0 defeat as they climbed into fifth spot and their visitors slipped to third, still four points ahead of Manchester City.
Rachel Laws tipped a Celin Bizet shot wide of her far post and the Liverpool goalkeeper also had to turn over a 20-yard strike by Grace Clinton.
But in a rare venture into the United box, Olivia Smith squeezed a shot under Phallon Tullis-Joyce for a 42nd-minute opener.
Cornelia Kapocs saw her strike pushed over the top of the United goal but the lead was doubled in first-half added time, Smith beginning a swift breakaway and Sam Kerr picking out Fuka Nagano whose shot gave the keeper no chance.
It was 3-0 midway through the second half, Jade Riviere bringing down Kapocs in the area and Smith stepping up to convert from the spot with her second goal of the game.
Maya le Tissier burst into the box and fired home for the visitors but with the 90 minutes all but up.

Arsenal’s 3-1 victory away to Everton moved them into second place, as they overtook Manchester United on goal-difference.
Honoka Hayasahi’s early sweet strike for the Toffees had to be turned round the post by Manuela Zinsberger, before Alessia Russo got the Gunners ahead from a Kim Little cross.
Everton were level after the half-hour mark, Katja Snoeijs finding Toni Payne for a close-range finish.
Arsenal made a quarter of changes after the hour mark and within moments had regained the advantage, Maren Mjelde conceding an own goal.
Steph Catley headed against the bar and Kyra Cooney-Cross struck the post in quick succession for the Gunners.
Russo got her second of the match to seal the win in the 90th minute, rounding the keeper after a ball by Beth Mead.
