Liverpool face Brighton for the second time in a week as the teams renew rivalries in the Premier League.
Arne Slot’s side won an entertaining cup contest at Brighton on Wednesday night, as a brace from Cody Gakpo helped book the Reds a place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
Slot’s side won 3-2 at The AMEX Stadium and now face Brighton on home soil. Liverpool saw Manchester City overhaul them at the top of the Premier League last weekend, after a 2-2 draw at Arsenal allowed the Citizens to capitalise.
Slot will have been delighted with his side’s start to the season, however, with Liverpool having lost just one of his 15 games across all competitions.
There are no fresh injury concerns for Liverpool though Slot has confirmed that none of Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa or Harvey Elliott are expected to return before November’s international break.
Slot handed rests to Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez in midweek, opting to face Brighton without a recognised forward. However, the Dutchman has suggested both players are likely to be recalled for the weekend. Caoimhin Kelleher will also return in goal after Vitezslav Jaros made his full debut in midweek.
A decision will be made on who starts at left-wing, after Cody Gakpo’s brilliant performance on Wednesday night. The Dutchman scored two goals on the south coast and is looking to oust Luis Diaz to make just his third league start of the campaign.
Kostas Tsimikas is also pushing for a place at left-back with Andy Robertson below his best this season.
Liverpool predicted XI: Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Gakpo, Nunez.
Liverpool host Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday 2nd November 2024. Kick-off at Anfield is 15:00 GMT.
The match will not be televised live to a UK audience.
