Liverpool and Arsenal are both vying to secure the signature of Rodrygo in the current transfer window, as the Brazilian forward appears to be surplus to requirements under new Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso. Once a regular feature in the starting eleven, Rodrygo’s role diminished towards the end of last season, and the situation has not improved since Alonso’s arrival.
Widely regarded as one of the most talented attacking players in world football, Rodrygo is expected to thrive in the Premier League. His availability has naturally attracted interest from top English clubs, with both Liverpool and Arsenal eager to add his flair and experience to their squads ahead of the new campaign.
Arsenal have reportedly shown strong interest in the forward and are weighing up the financial logistics of a deal. Some reports have even suggested that the Gunners may consider selling Gabriel Martinelli to raise funds for Rodrygo’s transfer, a move that would represent a significant shift in their attacking setup.
Liverpool, however, have made notable progress in the pursuit. Following the sale of Luis Díaz to Bayern Munich, they have turned their attention firmly to Rodrygo as a potential replacement. According to Sports Illustrated, the Merseyside club has already reached an agreement on personal terms with the Brazilian, signalling their serious intent to bring him to Anfield.
The report states that Liverpool view Rodrygo as a key addition who would bring creativity, pace and versatility to their frontline. Securing personal terms is considered a crucial step forward in the negotiation process and gives Liverpool a potential edge over its North London rivals.

While personal terms may be agreed upon, the overall cost of the transfer could still pose a challenge. Rodrygo remains under contract at Real Madrid, and his market value reflects his Champions League-winning pedigree and international credentials. Liverpool may still need to generate additional funds to meet the demands of the deal.
If completed, the transfer would represent a major statement of ambition. Rodrygo’s technical ability, big-game experience and adaptability across the front line make him a valuable asset for any top side, and his potential arrival would undoubtedly excite supporters.
