One Liverpool star has been removed from their squad to face Bournemouth in the Premier League tonight. A transfer is now close.

Liverpool take on Bournemouth in the Premier League tonight as they start their march towards retaining the title. Though, it’s not exactly the same squad that won it last time out.

The Reds have overseen an incredible overhaul this summer, shipping players out and replacing them with high-profile deals. They’ve broken their transfer record, while also signing the most expensive left-back, right-back and centre-forward in club history.

We’ve never seen anything like it and amazingly, they’re still not done. Liverpool want at least one new centre-back while a deal for Alexander Isak remains on the cards.

That last one could be the new British transfer record if it happens. The next two weeks will be telling.

But with incomings there are outgoings. Liverpool hope to ship out a few more players before the September 1st deadline and it appears one is getting done quickly.

Ben Doak out of squad to face Bournemouth

Paul Joyce confirmed on Twitter on Friday that Ben Doak will not be a part of the squad to face Bournemouth. The Scot was originally in the group but has now been withdrawn.

That's because he could soon be lining up for Bournemouth. Liverpool and the Cherries have been in talks and a £25m deal is now getting close.

The Guardian were the first to break the story. Now Doak is in line to depart, handing the Reds a massive profit on the £600k they paid Celtic.

Now, we can't imagine Doak would have played against Bournemouth on Friday. He was also a part of the squad for the Community Shield against Crystal Palace but never looked like coming on.

Not while the likes of Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa are still in the squad, anyway. Doak's path to the first-team looks well and truly blocked, opening the door nice and wide for a transfer.

That's now set to go through, banking Liverpool another £25m in this crazy summer window.
