With Milan Skriniar now on loan at Fenerbahce, Paris Saint-Germain could be in the market for a new center-back this summer. Even though the move isn’t permanent yet, signs point to the club parting ways with Skriniar for good, which means finding a replacement is likely on the agenda.

In February, Anfield Watch reported that PSG are seriously interested in Ibrahima Konate. That pursuit adds another layer to the situation, especially as uncertainty grows around the defender’s future.

The Paris native is high on PSG’s wishlist, and the club reportedly wants to bring Konate home. He came up through Paris FC’s ranks before heading to RB Leipzig, and now he’s firmly in the sights of the French champions.

On the flip side, if Liverpool can’t reach an agreement on a new contract with Konate, they’re rumored to be considering a bold move—selling him to fund upgrades to their attack.

Liverpool could be forced to consider selling Konate this summer after a report revealed that his agent demands a massive pay increase in contract talks. With negotiations stalling, two major European clubs are said to be ready to battle it out for the defender’s signature.

According to The Times journalist Hamzah Khalique-Loonat, the center-back’s agent has caught FSG off guard by demanding a massive 150% pay rise, pushing his wages up to £200,000 a week.

That figure would make Konate the third-highest earner at Liverpool, trailing only Mohamed Salah (£350,000 a week) and Virgil van Dijk (£220,000 a week). With that big gap between what’s being asked and what Liverpool are willing to offer, both sides are now in a bit of a holding pattern, hoping a middle ground can be found.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid and PSG have been closely monitoring Konate in recent months, adding another layer of tension to the situation.
