Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has delivered updates on the injury situation at the club ahead of their Premier League clash with Leeds United on Monday.

The Reds are looking to push into the top four, but they will take the Europa League with their current form.

They are currently eighth in the Premier League but face a trip to Elland Road to face relegation battlers Leeds.

Liverpool will fancy themselves against a Leeds side that were beaten 5-1 by Crystal Palace in their last game.

Klopp delivered injury assessments on several players in the press conference.

Klopp said (via Liverpool Echo): “Ibou (Ibrahima Konate) could not train for two days. He will train today.

“Ali (Alisson Becker) could not be involved but should be back today. There is a little bit of illness here, a little bit of injury there.

“Thiago (Alcantara) is a candidate for starting. Top rhythm.

“(Luis) Diaz is 100% ready in training. He is completely ready. Now, we have to reintegrate. He will be in the squad unless something happens.”

Diaz has been out since October last year. He returned in December but relapsed and had to undergo surgery. He returned to training weeks ago and is ready for playing time now.

Unsurprisingly, Klopp faced a barrage of questions about Jude Bellingham at the press conference.

News broke this week that the club had pulled out of the race to sign the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.

The Liverpool boss explained that the Englishman was too expensive, especially as they plan a midfield overhaul this summer.

Liverpool need to be smart with their spending. They will miss out on around £100 million in revenue due to the lack of Champions League football.

Fenway Sports Group have never been the most lavish spenders during their time as owners and are unlikely to change this summer.
