Liverpool leading the narrative on Alexander Isak

Let’s not forget who really is to blame for the Alexander Isak situation.

Everybody is now blaming his agent. I have no doubt that he has had some input, but to totally blame him for this fiasco is naive and plays into the narrative.

The narrative was set by Liverpool, they set the ball rolling with the whispers to the press that they were interested in Alexander Isak and would supposedly pay 120 million for him.

They then let that fester, keeping it in the news through the likes of Ornstein and Romano, both giving daily updates that the deal was going to be done and Isak wanted the move. All this, so they could unsettle and manipulate our star player, and it worked. It shouldn’t lead to him being sold to them though.

I have no doubt that Isak wanted and still wants the move, but I very much doubt both he and his agent expected the derisory offer that eventually came from them. The offer that they will come in with when there are two days left of the window, and they will fully expect us to sell, because their long game seems to be working. I hear them say we’ve been the same with Wissa, we put a bid in and the player did the rest, something I don’t condone, but nothing like the scousers and Isak.

Newcastle fans now need to be strong and stop listening to the narrative and read between the lines. Liverpool want us to burn his shirt, they want the banners at the training ground, this only adds to their belief that he’ll be sold to them for a knockdown price.

The Newcastle United owners need to be strong and stick to the original price and not waiver.

This is pivotal to how we go forward from here on. We either let the scousers win, or let them know we aren’t the pushover we once were.

Alexander Isak needs to know this and he either plays the game or rots on his own. Either way, the club will survive, we’ve had worse summers than this and we got through them.
