In his column for the Daily Mail (h/t SPORT), former Liverpool player and manager turned pundit, Graeme Souness, has made a scathing criticism of Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham.
The 21-year-old England international signed for Los Blancos in 2023 and enjoyed a stunning debut campaign, playing a key role in the team’s La Liga and UEFA Champions League success.
This season, however, Bellingham has been unable to maintain the same level of consistency in his performances for Real Madrid, although it must be noted that the team as a whole has underwhelmed this season.
In his column, former Liverpool captain and manager Souness did not hold back in criticising Bellingham, stating his dip in performance and on-field behaviour worries him.
“Watching Bellingham at Real Madrid lately has worried me,” Souness wrote in his column.
“He had an incredible first season in Spain and seemed to be taking the world by storm, but now I have a bad feeling he is no longer listening. Hopefully I’m wrong, but this season has been a disappointment and you have to question his behaviour at times.”

Souness slammed Bellingham’s frequent clashes with referees and questioned the guidance he is receiving, stating:
“If Bellingham listens to anyone, their advice is taking him in the wrong direction. If he sees passion in the way he acts, he is also wrong.”
But the most cutting remark came when Souness advised Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal to avoid following in the footsteps of the Real Madrid midfielder.
“He is the perfect example of what Lamine Yamal should avoid. We are certainly seeing the beginnings of a very special talent. At just 17 years old, he makes decisions that you would expect from much older players,” Souness added.
Bellingham, this season, has managed 13 goals and 14 assists from 49 appearances in all competitions.
The 21-year-old has accumulated ten yellow cards and a red card this term and was fortunate to see another red card that he received in the Copa del Rey final get overturned.
