Celtic confirmed their 54th Scottish league title with a win against Kilmarnock on Wednesday night with Matt O’Riley (2), Adam Idah, James Forrest and Daizen Maeda all netting in a 5-0 win.

This weekend, club captain Callum McGregor will have the honour of once again lifting the Scottish Premiership trophy when St Mirren visit Parkhead.

It promises to be an emotional occasion for the Hoops, not least for their first-choice goalkeeper Joe Hart, who has announced his intentions to retire at the end of the season.

The former England international, 37, has played over 150 times for the Glasgow giants since signing in 2021 and has just wrapped up his third league title in a row.

Hart’s departure means Brendan Rodgers’ side will be going into the market for a new No.1, with Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool being mentioned as a potential candidate for a northward move.

The 25-year-old has admitted that he came close to leaving Anfield last summer as he’s got a clear desire to become a first-choice goalkeeper in his own right having played second fiddle to Alisson Becker for so long.

Although the Irish international has managed over 25 appearances in Liverpool’s goal this season  - collecting another Carabao Cup title along the way - it has been suggested that he might finally bring the curtain down on his career on Merseyside this summer after five seasons at the club.

It’s been reported that the Reds might seek a transfer fee of around £20 million for the 12-cap Irishman, who is under contract until 2026.

Celtic fans beg Kelleher to move

That sum would represent a record fee for the Bhoys but it would likely be a solid investment given Kelleher’s quality and the years he’s got in front of him.

Celtic fans have now IMPLORED Kelleher to make the move to Paradise, after the goalkeeper made it known he’s keeping a keen eye on their achievements.

With Ireland international colleague Idah posting a celebratory image to his Instagram account this week, Kelleher was quick to congratulate his teammate, leading the Celtic faithful to inundate the shot-stopper with requests to take the plunge.

“Love it you,” Kelleher wrote to striker Idah before adding a green heart emoji.

The duo have been together since their Ireland under-21 days, with both since stepping up to the senior ranks, and fans were quick to jump into the replies of Kelleher’s comment, which has been liked over 100 times.

“The 2 of ye can sign next season,” wrote one supporter.

“sign up champions league and lots of trophies,” another said.

Idah, 23, is on loan from Norwich City and has had a new lease of life since moving to Celtic. However, it remains to be seen if the two Irishmen will be together again at Celtic next term.
