Liverpool have been tipped to move for Athletico Paranaense goalkeeper Bento as they prepare to bid farewell to Caoimhin Kelleher.

Kelleher has spent five years as Liverpool's backup goalkeeper but admitted earlier this summer that he is ready to leave Anfield in search of a regular starting role.

Third-choice stopper Adrian has been offered a new contract ahead of the expiry of his current deal at the end of the month, but he is expected to depart and sign on with Real Betis.

With the likely departures of both Kelleher and Adrian leaving only Alisson on the books, Globo Esporte state Liverpool are looking at another Brazilian in the form of Bento to come work under his international teammate.

Bento, 25, has established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in his homeland and is widely expected to be sold this summer, although leading suitors Inter recently withdrew from the race for his signature.

After seeing a bid of €15m (£12.7m) rejected, Inter instead turned to Genoa's Josep Martinez, although Bento's agent has since suggested Inter boss Simone Inzaghi blocked a move for the Brazilian late on.

Athletico are now prepared to entertain fresh offers for Bento, whose contract expires in December 2026.

Just how much Athletico are demanding for Bento is not clear, but finances may not be a problem for Liverpool if they are able to cash in on Kelleher.

Details of Liverpool's asking price for Kelleher have varied in recent months. Initial reports suggested a fee of over £25m would get the job done, while the latest speculation claims it could take closer to £40m.

Alongside Bento, Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow, who worked under current Reds boss Arne Slot.
