Liverpool have blown the FA Cup wide open, with the bookies responding accordingly.

Arne Slot taking a massive risk, playing a reserve side and having minimal options on the bench if things ended up not going their way…

Happily that ended up the case, with Plymouth ending up deserved winners thanks to a Hardie converted penalty in the 53rd minute.

The Liverpool boss left to rue that he hadn’t even taken the likes of Salah and most other first team regulars down to the fourth round match.

The possibilities for Newcastle United in the FA Cup now really opening up after their gutsy win at Birmingham on Friday night.

With now the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all knocked out, very interesting to view (see below) the revised odds from the bookies on Newcastle’s chances of winning the whole thing.

The fifth round draw will be made live on BBC’s ‘The One Show’ tonight (Monday 10 February 2025), taking place at around 7.10pm.

Now guaranteed a place in the last 16, Newcastle United are ball number 9.

The FA Cup fifth round matches are to be played the weekend of Saturday 1 March.

Here is the full list of fourth round results (plus the two ties still to be played) and then follows the new updated odds from the bookies on the chances of Newcastle United (and the rest) winning the FA Cup:

Man U 2 Leicester 1

Leeds 0 Millwall 2

Leyton Orient 1 Man City 2

Coventry 1 Ipswich 4

Everton 0 Bournemouth 2

Preston 0 Wycombe 0 (Preston win 4-2 on pens)

Southampton 0 Burnley 1

Stoke 3 Cardiff 3 (Cardiff win 4-2 on pens)

Wigan 1 Fulham 2

Birmingham 2 Newcastle 3

Brighton 2 Chelsea 1

Sunday 9 February 2025

Blackburn 0 Wolves 2

Plymouth 1 Liverpool 0

Aston Villa 2 Tottenham 1

Matches still to play

Monday 10 February

Doncaster v Palace (7.45pm)

Tuesday 11 February

Exeter v Forest (8pm)

The general odds available from various bookies on which club will win the FA Cup this season (as of Monday 10 February morning):

5/2 Man City

5/1 Newcastle United

7/1 Man U

8/1 Villa

10/1 Bournemouth

12/1 Brighton

14/1 Fulham

20/1 Palace, Forest

33/1 Wolves

66/1 Ipswich

100/1 Burnley

125/1 Millwall

200/1 Preston, Cardiff

250/1 Plymouth

1,000/1 Exeter

2,000/1 Doncaster

Five lower league clubs already through, which could end up as six or seven if Palace and/or Forest end up heading out of the competition.

Every chance tonight then that Newcastle United can get a very favourable draw in the FA Cup fifth round.

A lower league side at St James’ Park hopefully, but I would be happy with a home draw, against pretty much anybody. With the exception of Man City I suppose, they have had a strange season but that doesn’t stop them being currently favourites to win the FA Cup as thing stand.
