The Blaugrana have been long-time admirers of the 30-year-old midfielder and have continued to monitor his situation at the Allianz Arena.

However, more and more teams are emerging as potential suitors for Kimmich. The likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City have already been linked and now another European heavyweight has entered the race.

Liverpool want Kimmich

Indeed, as per BILD (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Liverpool have thrown their hat in the ring for the signing of Kimmich, rivalling the likes of Barcelona and other interested clubs.

The prospect of signing a player of Kimmich’s calibre without having to pay a transfer fee is an attractive proposition for the Premier League leaders, who are now reportedly looking to secure his signature.

It must be noted that Barcelona have had Kimmich on their radars for a while now but his signing is no longer seen as a priority.

After all, the Catalans are well-stocked in midfield with the emergence of Marc Casado this season while another breakout youngster, Marc Bernal, will be back from injury before next season starts.

With Frenkie de Jong also looking to renew his deal, there may not be a need for another midfielder, although Kimmich is a quality player who has tasted success previously working under Hansi Flick.

Bayern Munich, for their part, remain hopeful of convincing Kimmich although the recent comments made by director Max Eberl indicate that they might be running out of patience.

With less than five months left before his contract expires, only time will tell what the German midfielder decides.
