Liverpool are one of the few clubs in world football not linked in any way to a multi-club ownership group, with Fenway Sports Group (FSG)'s only interest in the sport revolving around the Reds.
This isn't to say, however, that FSG aren't hoping to add another football club to their conglomerate organisation in the form of a feeder club to help sustain Liverpool's status as one of Europe's elite.

Manchester City are tied into the City Group which is owned by the Abu Dhabi United Group whereas Manchester United's owners INEOS have stakes in OGC Nice and FC Lausanne-Sport. You'll also be aware of Red Bull, which have an entire portfolio of clubs which Jurgen Klopp helps to oversee.
Transfer business with such an organisation is a complex process and Liverpool are currently tied up in a situation which has the potential to be very fruitful if the negotiations prove to be successful.
Currently, the main transfer on the Reds' radar is Alexander Isak, who is Newcastle's striker and as you will know, the Magpies' ownership is 80% the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF).
A big topic of debate over the last few years has been whether the PIF are merely sportswashing; their total wealth is reportedly around £480bn - making them the richest football owners in the world.
Well, you'll have seen the rise of the Saudi Pro League in recent years as well, following sizeable transfer moves from Europe taking place, with enormous contracts offered out to players to move.
Al-Hilal are one of the clubs under the ownership of the PIF and recently Darwin Nunez has appeared to be a target after an approach made in January was rejected for around £70m - not because the amount was too low, but because the bid was made in the middle of the season.
Now, however, it appears as though a deal is more likely, with the asking price set to be met and with Nunez considering whether the move makes sense for his career. He had wanted to stay in Europe.
But since a relationship has been established with the Saudis, a new plan could be unveiled.
