Liverpool attacker Harvey Elliott picked up a nasty injury during the Reds’ 2-1 loss against Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium last Sunday.
The 21-year-old was spotted limping onto the team bus after a rugby tackle from Magpies’ midfielder Joelinton. Many people feared that Elliott could be out for a long time again on the treatment table as he looked in great pain.
Elliott has struggled for regular game time this season, but he has made an impact whenever he is called upon. Against the Magpies, he made a lovely through pass for Federico Chiesa that led to Liverpool’s goal.
Liverpool fans will be relieved to find that Elliott is back in training today for the England Under 21 side. He took part in the training this morning and looked absolutely fine.
Daily Mail journalist Nathan Salt has shared footage from the England camp, where Elliott was spotted warming up in training with his international teammates.
In his last 43 appearances for Liverpool, Elliott has only started 16 of them. Within that period, he has scored seven goals and provided 12 assists, averaging a goal involvement every 97 minutes.
One of the major issues fans have raised against manager Arne Slot is that he does not rotate his squad enough, and the players looked weary against Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle.
Elliott has managed only 121 minutes of Premier League football and has not started a single league game this season. He is good enough to make significant contributions, but despite delivering on the pitch, the Reds boss has ignored him.
With only nine games remaining, Slot should involve Elliott more in the remaining games. Nevertheless, the Reds boss and the fans will be happy to find that Elliott is fit and that there is no major injury issue to worry about.
