In a recent post on X, Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett mentioned that Liverpool are among the clubs hoping to land Brighton and Hove Albion forward Joao Pedro. It has been stated that the Reds are facing competition in the form of Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to land the Brazilian striker this summer.

Pedro’s Impressive Season In The Premier League

The 23-year-old had a decent campaign at Brighton recently as he put in a series of fruitful displays for them in the final third. Pedro has banged in ten goals and picked up seven assists in 30 matches for the Seagulls this season on all fronts.

The Brazilian talent has led the line well as he is averaging 1.94 shots per game in the Premier League. He has kept 35.7% of his shots on target. However, Pedro needs to work on improving his link-up play in the opponent’s half after completing just 72.9% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the American Express Community Stadium will expire in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for the Reds to land him on the cheap this off-season.

Will Joao Pedro Be A Good Option For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?

Pedro is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can be a streaky goal-getter in the final third and can also create the odd chance for his teammates up top. The Brazilian sensation is usually quite clever with his movements in and around the opposition penalty box. However, Pedro has to work on improving his link-up play if he wants to taste success at the highest level.

Standing at 1.88m, the South American forward can be a real handful for the opposition defenders. He has already begun to prove his worth in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Liverpool.

We can expect Pedro to bring more firepower to Arne Slot’s attack. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at Anfield next season. Thus, it makes sense for the Merseyside club to get a deal done for him in this summer transfer window.

At 23, Pedro has his peak years ahead of him which makes him an excellent option for the Reds to consider in the long run. With all things considered, Slot would be wise to move in for the Brazilian talent soon.
