The 21-year-old follows former Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz in moving to Anfield this summer, after two impressive campaigns at Bournemouth.

It takes the club’s summer spending to around £170m as Arne Slot strengthens his title-winning squad.

Last season, Kerkez played all 38 league games for Andoni Iraola’s side, scoring twice and providing five assists. He was named in the PFA Fans’ Premier League Team of the Season for his performances in 2024/25.

The Hungary international has also been shortlisted for the 2024/25 Men’s PFA Young Player of the Year award. He links up with international teammate Dominik Szoboszlai at Liverpool.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes was behind the deal that took Kerkez to Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar and has now brought the player to Merseyside.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Kerkez said he is delighted to have joined ‘one of the biggest clubs in the world’.

“I’m really happy,” he said.

“It’s a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, [the] biggest club in England. I’m just really, really happy and excited.

“After this, I’ll go home and in my hometown enjoy a few days, and then I can’t really wait to come back and put the training kit on and start to train and prepare for the season.”
