Real Madrid hold a concrete interest in signing Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is seen as a priority target for the summer at Valdebebas with his contract expiring this year.
More recently, links to Alexander-Arnold’s teammate Virgil van Dijk have also emerged as the Dutchman will also become a free agent this summer. However, Real Madrid have dismissed the speculations, ruling out any interest in the veteran superstar.
Now, another Liverpool defender, Ibrahima Konate, has been touted as a possible target for the Spanish capital giants heading into the summer.
Indeed, reports in England earlier this month suggested that Real Madrid, as well as PSG, have shown an interest in the 25-year-old French international.
Now, The Times’ Paul Joyce reports that Konate has yet to accept the new renewal terms that Liverpool have offered to him amid the rumours of interest from Real Madrid and PSG.
The former RB Leipzig centre-back, who joined the Premier League leaders in 2021, has a contract that expires in 2026, meaning he will have only one year left on his deal in the summer.

It would make him an attractive prospect for top European clubs – a scenario that Liverpool are eager to avoid.
As such, the Merseyside giants have offered him a new deal with fresh terms but he is yet to sign them, leaving his future open for speculations.
While there may have been some tentative interest from Real Madrid in Konate, at the moment, it appears unlikely that they will sign the Frenchman or any other centre-back for that matter.
Indeed, with the emergence of Raul Asencio, the return to fitness of David Alaba, and the presence of more young talents like Jacobo Ramon and Joan Martinez has meant that Los Blancos do not see the signing of a new central defender as a priority for the summer.
As such, Real Madrid are unlikely to pursue a deal for Konate but focus on his teammate Alexander-Arnold to reinforce the right-back position.
