Lille president confirms desire to sell Napoli target Edon Zhegrova | OneFootball

Edon Zhegrova (26) looks set to leave Lille OSC, with the club president, Olivier Létang, revealing that the club have no intention of attempting to keep him beyond this summer. The winger who arrived in 2022 from Basel has entered the final year of his contract and repeatedly made it clear that he wants to leave for a new project (or “a bigger club”).

Létang at a press conference explained Lille’s position on the Kosovan international, “Edon has expressed his wish to leave. It doesn’t seem appropriate to me to keep him with a year left on his contract in the current economic context of French football. [His departure is something] we’re anticipating.”

With this in mind, Létang has explained that despite signing Marius Broholm, Lille will be in the market for a new winger so that at least four players are covering the flanks, “If Edon were to stay, we would have four players on the wings. If Edon leaves, we will have to find a fourth player. We have contacts. The big European teams have at least four players on the wings to make a difference.”

Edon Zhegrova’s future in Serie A?

Where Zhegrova will end up remains unclear, however, La Voix du Nord reports that there is serious interest in his talents from Serie A, with Napoli and Atalanta paying close attention to the winger.
