Despite signing Olivier Giroud (38) from Los Angeles FC on a free transfer, the search for a new number nine remains the priority for Lille OSC this summer following the departure of Jonathan David, who left at the end of his contract.
The 2018 World Cup winner will likely be used as a super-sub and as an experienced head in the dressing room, rather than a replacement for David, which means Les Dogues still need to be active in the transfer window.
Rangers striker Hamza Igamane (22) has been the main target. However, there has been little movement on that front. La Voix du Nord writes that the player has agreed on personal terms with Lille, but the two clubs have yet to agree on a transfer fee, with Rangers wanting around €20 million.
The French outlet explains that Lille have looked at other options this window, and were interested in Matthis Abline (22), but have been warded off by FC Nantes’s financial demands. Les Canaris want €30 million for a player who is in the sights of Sunderland AFC.
