The final Ligue 1 matchday delivered some twists in the race for Europe! Starting tonight’s games in fourth place, Nice have got the job done and some more in demolishing Brest 6-0. Les Aiglons have therefore qualified for the Champions League third qualifying round. Franck Haise’s side will play two two-legged ties to join PSG, Marseille and Monaco in the Champions League proper.

Nice and Lille have finished level on points, but because Les Dogues have a lower goal difference, Lille have finished fifth in the Ligue 1 standings. Bruno Genesio’s side is now through to the Europa League. In sixth place, Lyon won 2-0 against Angers to leapfrog Strasbourg at the death after Le Havre defeated the Alsatians at the buzzer to qualify for the Conference League playoffs.

However, if PSG win next Saturday’s Coupe de France final against Reims, Lyon’s European campaign next season will be upgraded as they will qualify for the Europa League. Should this happen, 7th-placed Strasbourg will take Lyon’s place in the Conference League playoffs.
