Ligue 1 Predictions, Round 18
GFFN editor-in-chief Luke Entwistle and GFFN’s Raphaël Jucobin face off in our Ligue 1 predictions competition. It’s three points for a correct score, two points for a correct score difference, and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?
SCORES
Raphaël: 96
Luke: 103
Lille may be unbeaten in their last 13 league games but within that incredible run, which dates back to the start of September, there are too many draws. They are yet to win in 2025 having drawn against Nantes and then Auxerre. Against the latter, they really should have had enough to get over the line given that they played against 10 men for much of the second half. But Jonathan David, amid the uncertainty around his future, is having one of those periods that he has within every season where the confidence seeps away and the goals dry up. A real purple-patch player, he will need to return to top form as, without Edon Zhegrova in particular, the goals are not coming from elsewhere.
Within this context, Nice could genuinely spring a surprise. They have won their last two games by an aggregate score of 7-4. They may not be defensively solid but their strikers have come alive: Evann Guessand, Gaëtan Laborde, Sofiane Diop, and Badredine Bouanani, confidence is overflowing in this front line in stark contrast to the situation at Lille. Le Gym’s recent revival, which has also coincided with the returns of some key players, including Dante, Jonathan Clauss, and Hicham Boudaoui, sees them miraculously go into this game above LOSC, despite their well-documented and severe injury crisis, which has plagued their entire campaign. Lille will be favourites for this one but Nice are more than capable of getting a result at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
