The second half of the season for Bayern Munich has been largely dominated by contract talks of several first-team players. They have confirmed new deals for Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich, and Jamal Musiala, while Thomas Muller was not offered a new contract. The veteran German forward will leave Bayern Munich after spending 25 years in Bavaria.

The next in line for a new deal at Bayern is Leroy Sane. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern are now open to offering a new deal to Sane after his improved displays during the second half of the season.

Max Eberl has got the nod from the supervisory board to offer Sane a three-year contract. Sane’s future has been subject to a lot of speculation over the last six months. The club chiefs publicly prioritized new deals for Kimmich, Musiala, and Davies before addressing the situation of Sane.

Arsenal reportedly showed concrete interest in Sane, but the German winger has always prioritized staying in Munich over other offers. The former Schalke forward feels settled in Bavaria and wants to continue playing for the Bavarian faithful.

Die Roten will likely announce the contract renewal later this month. Sane had delayed talks with other clubs until summer as he was determined to convince club chiefs to offer him a new deal.

Sane ready to take necessary pay-cut to sign new deal

As per Sky Sports, Leroy Sane is ready to take the necessary pay cut to extend his stay in Munich. It speaks volumes about Sane’s desire to stay at Bayern that he is ready to take a pay cut and sign a shorter three-year contract.

Sane endured a difficult first half of the season as he was struggling for consistency on the pitch. The club chiefs were unsure about offering him a new deal due to his lack of consistency in performances since arriving from Manchester City in 2020. He has looked great under different coaches but couldn’t sustain the performance levels for the entire campaign.

Despite the poor first half of the season, Sane is on track to have his best goalscoring campaign in the Bundesliga. He has stepped up in the Ruckrunde and delivered the goods when his team needed the most. Sane has scored nine goals in the league. He will have more responsibility in the last two months of the season after Jamal Musiala’s season-ending injury against Augsburg.
