A crucial update has been provided on the transfer situation of Manchester United defensive target Leny Yoro amidst Real Madrid’s heavy interest in him.

Yoro is a player high on United’s wishlist for the ongoing summer window. Within Old Trafford, the 18-year-old is seen as someone who could come in, easily slot into Erik ten Hag’s backline and improve the team’s performance levels.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Red Devils already reached out to Lille to declare their interest in Yoro.

Fabrizio Romano also recently confirmed that Ten Hag’s side had contacts with Lille in the past few hours to say that they’re ready to do a deal in the event that Real Madrid pull out of the race for the Frenchman.

Los Blancos are considered the strong favourites to land Yoro, with the player also very keen on sealing a sensational switch to the Santiago Bernabeu.

It’s understood that there is already an agreement in place between Yoro and Madrid for him to join them in the near future. It was stated that amidst Madrid’s reluctance to overpay for a player on the last 12 months of his contract, Yoro himself is prepared to stay at Lille for one more year and then join Madrid next summer as a free agent.

However, it’s not completely out of the question that another club could ultimately secure Yoro’s services, especially considering the fact that Lille are in no position to allow a prized asset to walk away for nothing.

There’s a chance that Yoro’s hands could be tied, giving outfits like United an opening to swoop in for the player.

Fichajes have now given an update on Madrid’s pursuit of Yoro and have revealed details of the gap in valuation between the La Liga team and Lille.

The outlet notes, “They [Madrid] are still clear that the great desire is Leny Yoro. The 18-year-old central defender from Lille has become a great desire of the French, who will try to shore up his rearguard with this signing as soon as possible.”

“But there are still clear differences because with his contract up in a year, the Whites do not want to go over €40m and the French are asking for no less than €70m.”

“Despite the acceleration of a few days ago, the strategy of the European champions remains to be patient and to let the summer progress.”

United are not the only party keeping close tabs on the situation. Liverpool and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain also retain an admiration for the impressive Yoro.
