According to a report from L’Équipe, RC Lens have now opened the door for Andy Diouf (22) to leave the club.
The young midfielder who arrived at Les Sang et Or in 2023 from Basel looked as if he would be a centre-piece for the club this season, particularly with Neil El Aynaoui (23) being sold to AS Roma.
However, with interest mounting from Napoli, who have sent the player a contract offer, and also from the Premier League, Lens have been preparing for an exit. The arrival of Mamadou Sangaré (23) from Rapid Wien has brought cover to the position, and now if Lens receive a suitable offer (reportedly above €20m), they will allow Diouf to leave.
Diouf is certainly talented, but if he does leave Lens this summer, it will be with a sense that the club have yet to see the very best of him. The France youth international has struggled to impose himself on the team during his two seasons, despite the club spending €14m to secure his services (the third-highest transfer fee spent by Lens).
